DNA Methylation Testing

The most advanced and frequently performed diagnostic technique is methylation DNA testing which examines epigenomic variations in DNA associated with given states of health, aging prospects, and disease proneness. Different from genetic mutations which are characterized by changes or mutations in the DNA sequence, DNA methylation is a process whereby methyl groups are added to the DNA molecules thus affecting the gene expression without the DNA sequence being changed. These modifications are essential for controlling genes and are known to be affected by the external environment, for example, diet, stress, etc.

It has been identified that DNA methylation testing can help in understanding the biological age, risk of getting diseases, and the impact of eliciting environmental aspects. It can also provide information regarding diseases such as cancer, where methylation tendencies are known to be different for their early indicators and from the perspective of the prognosis. The test entails quantifying the degree of methylation from blood, saliva, or any other body tissue using DNA from samples.

Knowledge of DNA methylation may help people adopt better strategies in their behavioral patterns that lead to healthy lifestyles. To support our clients’ epigenetic healthcare, at Wellgevity Center, we welcome DNA methylation testing as well as develop a comprehensive diet, physical activity, and stress reduction program for our clients.
